The true value of the Internet for any nonprofit organizations is in creating and sustaining constituent relationships to ensure ongoing support. This is achieved by implementing an online Constituent Relationship Management (eCRM) strategy to involve constituents — especially donors — in more than one activity so they can provide support for the organization in multiple ways at different times. An effective eCRM strategy not only raises funds online but also:

  • Helps drives online and offline giving
  • Increases donor lifetime value
  • Reduces communication and fundraising costs
  • Supports major giving
  • Contributes to the success of other activities, e.g., advocacy, volunteering and outreach to new constituents and donors

I just read a review of the penguin-animated film “Happy Feet” with Robin Williams doing some of the voices. Apparently, there is a whole sub-plot about global warming and environmental issues…

I haven’t seen the actual movie yet, but I saw the trailer (above). I think the humor is terrific and the music, and dancing are fresh and new. After “March of the Penguins” and “Penguins of the Antarctic,” I thought I’ve seen enough penguins, but I’ve never seen them like this!

“Penguins of the Antarctic” on PBS, is an in-depth look at different penguin species and their means of survival. The film puts viewers atop icebergs and underwater with these extraordinary birds, explores penguins’ arduous existence and the challenges ahead for them.

Penguins are considered to be the most social of birds. Even at sea, they tend to swim and feed in groups. The birds go to incredible lengths, I learned, to find food for themselves and their babies. In the Antarctic, they withstand brutal snowstorms and frigid temperatures, and they go for months without food, all for the sake of their chicks.

NATURE “Penguins of the Antarctic” airs on PBS Sunday, November 12, 2006.

Dr. Jane Goodall’s legendary work with the chimpanzees of Tanzania’s Gombe Stream National Park is the subject of this remarkable film co-produced by the Science Museum of Minnesota, Science North, and Discovery Place, in cooperation with the Jane Goodall Institute.

The film takes viewers on an extraordinary journey deep into Gombe and across four decades of research to experience the world of the chimpanzee as they’ve never seen it before.
